You may think that mules are only Summer drinks, but I submit that they are the perfect fall cocktail. That ginger beer–the spicier the better–tastes just like a ginger snap cookie or pumpkin spiced something or other. Sure, the mule mugs keep it super cold, but the ginger (and gin!) will keep you warm on those cool October evenings.
I added cucumber slices to this cocktail to infuse some freshness and to play off the gin, and boy, was it good. It’s amazing how much flavor a cucumber can give. No muddling, just throw it in.
In other news, I just downloaded this app that keeps all of your bills in one place and reminds you to pay them. This, after a mishap with Sprint this morning, is one small step I’m taking today to grow up already. My best friends are having kids–bringing life into this world–and I’m paying bills on time. That’s sort of the same thing, right?
Happy #FancyDrinkFriday, and remember to pop on over to Instagram and share the fancy drinks you’re enjoying tonight with the hashtag! I want to see.
Here’s the recipe.
Cucumber Gin Mule (serves 1, adjust at will)
- 2 ounces gin
- 4 ounces Ginger Beer (I like Fever Tree! It’s super spicy)
- 3-4 slices of cucumber
- Fill a Mule Mug with ice. Pour in gin, then the ginger beer. Stir to combine, then top with a couple of slices of cucumber. Stir again so the cucumber really gets in there.
