It’s a sad week when the only two things I post are the two things I post every week, but, here we are.
How do you feel about martinis? I had a night in college where I was certain that there was nothing better in this whole wide world, which was followed by three years of not even being able to even utter the word. You know how that goes.
I’ve recently, cautiously, welcomed martinis back in my life. Turns out, I’m pretty picky about them. (Shocker?) They have to be super cold and stay super cold, the olive juice has to be good, and it has to be vodka. Sorry to all of you gin-purists out there.
If said cocktail hits all of those marks, I’m in. If it doesn’t, well, I’m of the mindset that one shouldn’t willingly drink 6 ounces of vodka unless it’s really dang good.
Plus, martinis are the ultimate fancy drink, no? I mean, James Bond.
Happy Friday, friends!
Here’s the recipe:
Classic Dirty Martini (serves one)
- 6 ounces vodka
- 1 ounce olive juice
- 1 drop/dash of dry vermouth
- green olives for garnish
- lots of ice
- Fill a martini glass with ice water. Set aside.
- Fill a shaker with ice. Add vodka, olive juice, and vermouth. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
- Discard the ice water and strain the vodka mixture into the chilled glass. Garnish with green olives.
